The new entrance of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is a glass structure that complement the curved elliptical shape of the Kurokawa wing. Octatube is responsible for the technical design, engineering, production, assembly, and maintenance of this structure. To complete the entrance, a glass staircase has been placed to guide the visitors in.

The structure is characterized by its transparency. During the lecture a detailed explanation will be given on the application of glass fins in the main structure, which reaches lengths of up till 12 meters. The cold formed glass in the roof and facade will also be touched upon, which will occupy about 1250 square meters. Lastly the construction of the glass staircase will be elaborated.

The technical innovations in this project mark an important step in the application of glass as a full-fledged structural material in breathtaking architectonic structures.
