Lunchlecture Suit Supply HQ – Van Rossum
The new headquarters for Suitsupply on the Zuid-as in Amsterdam is 58m high and measures 24000m2 of offices and a flagship store. The design is by BIG architects from Denmark. With its curved shape and high end detailing some challenges for the structure were created. An extensive research period for the right structural system resulted in combination of a stiff concrete core and a lightweight steel structure to keep the building in balance.
Multiple functions are housed in this building, on the ground floor a lobby with coffeebar can be found together with a photostudio. The first floor has space reserved for a shop and meeting rooms and the floors above function as office floors. An interesting addition is the company restaurant on the sixth floor. The ground floor and mezzanine will furthermore house a parking garage for bikes, while two layers of parking garage for cars will be situated underneath the building. In total the building will be thirteen stories high.
The engineering office, also known from ‘de Pontsteiger’, will come to tell us more about the steel structure of this excentric building. Several interesting structural challenges will be brought to light at the lunchlecture.
