Parametric Segmental Timber Shell Structures

For the design of a parametric segmental timer shell structure a grasshopper model is developed. This model will be explained using an example.

The parametric model starts with an initial geometry, where a form-finding technique is used to obtain the global (double curved) geometry. Next this double curved surface is tessellated resulting in planar segment.

Finally the connection between segments is modelled and exported to Oasys GSA for structural analysis. If the results are satisfied, files for digital fabrication are prepared.
