End Colloquium Mees Fabel

Hi all,

You are hereby invited to attend the end colloquium for my graduation project on Composite Bamboo Shear Walls (CBSW)! This is a structural system consisting of a bamboo frame combined with a thin cement-based cladding.

CBSW is currently applied in social housing projects throughout the Philippines, where it offers an affordable, sustainable, and resilient alternative to conventional structural systems. As a relatively novel construction method, CBSW currently lacks standardized design approaches and analytical models.

My research focused on the development of an analytical method to determine the horizontal shear capacity of CBSW. Full-scale wall specimens with dimensions of 2.4 × 2.4 meters were analytically modeled and experimentally tested to assess their structural performance. The central research question guiding this study is:

How can an analytical model be developed to predict and improve the horizontal shear capacity of a CBSW panel?
