Stiffening of H-section high strength steel using WAAM to increase material efficiency
The aim of this research is to investigate the strengthening of the flanges of hot-rolled H-sections made from steel grade S460 using wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM). The objective is to enhance resistance to local buckling and develop a more material-efficient profile. This study involves numerical simulations to design an optimized stiffener, which is then fabricated by MX3D using WAAM and tested in the laboratory to evaluate its structural performance.
