In a time where preserving existing structures becomes more important, a structural engineer can also be asked to assess the structural safety of existing structures or investigate the reason for a collapse.

Solid Services inspects existing structures and determines if they are structurally safe. In Eindhoven, they assessed the structural safety of the cantilevering balconies of an apartment building located at the Karel de Grotelaan. From the performed research, the capacity of the balconies proved insufficient. To strengthen the structure, carbon fibre will be used. Currently, these renovations are being carried out.  In a presentation and excursion to the project site, they would like to show you how to assess the structural safety of an existing structure. And how modern strengthening methods are applied in practice.
