Applied investigations in structural engineering practice 

Structural engineering goes beyond designing new structures according to current codes. Existing civil structures pose complex challenges, like we see in the Renovation and Replacement (R&R) assignment in the Netherlands. They require in depth investigation, deep insight, solid experience and (some) improvisation. This is not standard textbook engineering, but it is where some of the most challenging, impactful, and exciting endeavours begin.
