Lunch Lecture Witteveen+Bos
Witteveen+Bos aims to contribute to improving sustainability of the built environment and be a state of the art engineering firm, by knowledge development. One of the ways we combine these efforts is by focusing on circular design principles. This includes looking at refuse and reduce, as well as contributing to the development of alternative materials. One way to reduce the impact of materials is by replacing non renewable raw materials with more natural alternatives. We achieve this, among other things, through the development of biocomposites. In recent years, we have designed and realized multiple bridges made from flax fiber-reinforced biocomposite.
Stephanie will guide you through the research conducted to test this material, ensuring structural safety and guaranteeing asset managers that flax fiber-reinforced composites comply with all regulations and can be used safely over the design life of objects. The lunch lecture will also address the step-by-step approach in the continuous improving efforts and upscaling of this innovation.
Lunch will of course, be provided by the lovely board!
