Three-Dimensional Asymptotic Homogenisation of Hygro-Mechanical Properties of Fibrous Networks
A three-dimensional microstructural model of a fibrous network was developed and used in an asymptotic homogenisation framework to investigate the hygro-mechanical behaviour of paper sheets. The model was constructed through sequential fibre deposition, where fibres were treated as transversely isotropic solids consisting of linear hexahedral elements. Both uncoated and gelatin-coated sheets were generated, and the influence of fibre rigidity, fibre length, and coverage on the effective properties was examined.
