End Colloquium Wen-Chi Shih

Hi everyone,
On the 8th of July, I am going to present my project on stochastic finite element modelling of coreless filament-wound structures.
The use of flax fibre in coreless filament-wound structures introduces significant uncertainties due to inherent material properties and variations in the fabrication process. The interaction of these uncertainties makes accurate structural simulation challenging. My research aims to identify simplified modelling assumptions that account for these uncertainties by applying Monte Carlo simulation. During the presentation, I will share the process, covering uncertainty quantification, random fields definition, and the development of simplified assumptions for deterministic and stochastic finite element analyses.
Although summer has already started, if you are interested in filament-wound structures or in a simulation workflow that integrates Grasshopper, Python, and ANSYS, feel free to join!
