Excursion Goudstikker and Barli

On Monday, 7 December, KOers is organising an excursion to Barli’s housing factory in Uden, in collaboration with Goudstikker and Barli!

Timber construction is gaining momentum in the Netherlands. As the demand for sustainable and affordable housing continues to grow, industrialised timber construction is becoming an increasingly important part of the solution. This creates exciting opportunities for the next generation of engineers and construction professionals. During this afternoon, you will discover how this future of housing is already taking shape: from structural design to industrial production.

About the afternoon

Goudstikker is an office of structural engineers. Timber construction, complex redevelopments and earthquake-resistant design are part of their daily work. They turn ambitious designs into structures that are safe, buildable and affordable.

Barli builds modular timber homes in its own factory, for housing corporations, developers and the recreation sector. The modules are made industrially, fast and clean. They are also circular and can be relocated. Barli’s recent work includes a 17-metre timber lift shaft placed in one piece at the Duet project in Oss.

Both Goudstikker and Barli were nominated together for the Nationale Houtbouwprijs 2026 with their project Strandeiland Makerskade in Amsterdam.

The afternoon starts with presentations from both companies. Then you get a guided tour of the factory, where you see modular timber construction up close. We close with drinks and snacks, a good moment to talk with engineers and other professionals from both companies.
